Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

New Bike Syndrdome (NBS)

So I've noticed that since I bought my new bike, I ride faster, climb better, my joints feel better, my wife is more attracted to me, my teeth are whiter, my work is stronger, and children now love me. Of course it has to be the bike.

Anyone else get this?

3 in 12 (but only 2 in last 11)

Amazingly, those feelings -- at least the riding ones -- kept going on my new ride last year. Probably more due to the fact that I just about tripled my mileage last year compared to the previous one.

Yeah, the PowerTap is giving me this feeling. I was looking through some "old" files from December and saw back when my FTP was only 3.78 W/kg. Now it's up to 4.26 W/kg. That's hawt.

Now if the number just looked better relative to the guys I'm racing against

So much today! If it makes you feel better, your w/kg dwarfs mine. Of course, I am not exactly your competition

Oh, and to the OP -- what is your new toy?

For a second there I thought the OP said "wife was more attractive to me."

Get a powertap and it will cure NBS after your first ride.
