Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

On the campy vs. shimano.

While I do like the look of C-Record cranks and RD. I cant do the hoods, I have always liked shimano hoods better than ergo power or the new ergos. So out of comfort I wanted to go with Dura Ace.

It shifts better anyway.

holy cr4p. When I saw the subject, I thought you meant your bike was finished as in it's busted, end of life. When I looked at the pics, I was looking for a crack of some sort, maybe in the frame. I couldn't see any. And I also though damn that's a beautful bike, why's he getting rid of it. THEN it occured to me "finished as in finished building it".

Then I started to admire the photography (what camera/lens do you have?).

What a beatiful bike I thought. And decent pics. And.... SHIMANO !!! Sacrilege.

But great bike overall, congrats.

It was shot with Sony Alpha100 with the stock 18-70. I shot in RAW and used Paintshop Pro X2 to process the pics

Heh, good on you!

Tubbies do save a lot of weight over clinchers though. It's kind of ridiculous. I'd never ride on them other than to race on them, but to each their own.

Enjoy the ride and ride the heck out of it. I love these vintage rides with sweet new parts. I guess my trek is a decent example of it. Fits be so beautifully. In fact, I'm taking it to the cannondale shop where I bought my CAAD9 to help me figure out what's wrong with the fit on that because I always get back pain if I ride longer than an hour.

On the trek, bring it on!

How I feel as well. If there is a better value then a Bianchi bicycle, I don't know what it is. Very nice.
