Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Recovery Drink

I mean after you've showered and ate 8 lbs of pasta, not Vitamin Water, Gatorade or whatever you get from the vitamn store or Whole (Paycheck) Foods. Somewhere in the lines of single malts, brews/hops based, vodka, and any varietals as in vino.

Or is this something you ask in the Training and Nurtition forum.

Lately Knob Creek with Pomegranate juice.

In the summer, Creme de Casis (20% alcohol but sweet) with Ooolong Tea and a lot of ice. I recover so good and sleep well after a couple servings.

Any trappist based brew is good too. I was told that historically the trappist monks made medicinal tonics out of the brews. I like em but Portland aside from it's great bike culture has some too.

I know this is usually a single-speed topic but even road weenies must know how to enjoy life aside from hopping on rollers in front of a Spinerval DVD.

Jose Cuervo can be so smooth until you try to stand up. I think they are designed to be partaken even in hot summer afternoons!

although, recently I've been hitting the Bacardi 151 a bit. It's great straight from the bottle.

Screwdrivers. OJ and vodka were meant to be mixed together! You can get your vitamin C and buzz at the same time.

Got that right. Any particular vodka manufacturer -- as in steelie vs carbon fiber...

Good recovery drink -- vodka for glyco nourishment, calms the msucles and nerves and OJ (not that OJ. from SoCal) does wonders.

I love Chimay ale as much as the next beer snob, but for God sakes man, it's Saint Patrick's Day.
Go get yourself a Guinness.

German wheat beers -in particular Schneider Weisse Aventinus Wheat DoubleBock beer (rated 100 by some beer review site) they are close to 9% and no garbage (German BeerPurity Lawof 1516) - so a couple of them will replenish energy and provide sound sleep
