I also like wearing a helmet because when I don't, my hair looks as though I've been blowing it back with a hair dryer. In other words after a few minutes of riding I look ridiculous WITHOUT a helmet.

Best reason to wear yet. ;)

i would hate to crash and throw away a 150plus dollar helmet.

Fails in comparison to the cost of even the cost of an ambulance to pick you up.

Ive had one instance where I was very happy to throw a cracked $80 helmet in the trash compared to having my head injured due to a mechanical error (which was my fault for not double checking), but no amount of bike handling could have saved me once the the events were set in motion. I cant say whether it would have been my brains, a couple stitches or just a nasty bump. Im glad I didnt have to find out though.

I ride a lot in the summer without one. I always race with one (because I have to; probably would anyway) and I wear one in the cold. Big deal.

Check my sig.

Head injuries blow, I know first-hand.

Go to the bike shop a try on a few helmets. Buy he one that fits correctly. Some models seem to fit round heads better than oblong heads.

Judging by your post, here's what you should wear:

NOOOOO! Not a helmet thread. Run away, Run Away. Abandon hope all ye who enter here...

I personally of course think everyone should be wrapped in bubble wrap. Light weight, good protection and since it is see-through you can still show off your lycra shorts and fancy jerseys. What's not to like? And, since head injuries are much rare than the rest of the injuries, it seems to me to be very important to protect the rest of your body. After all, you never know, you could end up with a long hospital stay that the bubble wrap could prevent. I know the current bubblewrap doesn't breathe, but I am sure they can figure out a way to ventilate it a bit better.

I think a law should be passed requiring everyone to be wrapped in bubblewrap as soon as they leave their beds - especially the children. Do you know how many children end up in the hospital every year from broken bones, etc? And think of the old people who fall and break a hip - it seems like a week can't pass without me hearing about someone falling and breaking a hip - and I am sure a lot goes unreported. Bubblewrap for everyone!

Sorry folks - feeling goofy today, just got my bike back from the shop and had a really good ride - blame it on the endorphins...

Hope you didn't have plans to patent that idea.

I am honestly expecting someone to do it - pictures will be required of course... I think Chipcom should do it - after all, he really can't look any stranger.
