Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My wife and I now have 3 bikes each and we intend on riding each of them as much as we can. Last season we put close to 9000km's on the bikes. I maintain them as necessary and I do take pictures of them, but like all family pictures the bikes get cleaned and primped up before the pictures are taken. In other words picture day after the major spring clean/overhaul is done....

So you should be expecting some pictures soon...

BTW you do your thing and other people do their thing...It's all good!!!!

Lets say you owned a really expensive car, or a really nice house. would you keep it dirty or clean? it has nothing to do with being anal. it has to do with pride in what you own. I was always taught to take care of my things because of the hard work that took to acquire them. I dont think its obnoxious at all.

Me too

ditto here, I leave my repairs and such to my LBS, I however do clean my chain periodically and
try to keep my bike pretty clean. Beyond that I'm pretty clueless. I do have the Park maintenance
book but only easy adjustments for me. I ride over 2000 miles on my Trek 7.7FX in Pittsburgh. Our weather sucks so far this spring, can't wait to hit the roads.
