Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Nice memorials. Didn't know them, but they're clearly missed.

Messed. Up.

It's always good to 1. see people remember loved ones lost and 2. remind us of the vulnerability we put ourselves into everytime we are on the road.

Very nice memorials. How senseless and sad.

I rode by the memorial site last weekend. Touching. Then I got harassed by a bozo in a pickup truck a few hundred meters away. Some things never change.

The memorial's just a short distance away from Jeff Steinwedel's memorial, on the other side of the road, which is still standing after 12 years or so. Jeff got run down from behind by a gravel truck driver.

I hope the new memorial gets a permanent replacement as a reminder to both driver and cyclist.

Two years later. Nicely done.
