Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Orbea Onix

I highly considering getting this bike. I have read some reviews on the internet but I would like some more opinions. If any of you have or know some one who has an Orbea Onix, what are your thoughts of the bike?
Thanks

Orbeas are great bikes. Be sure and get the orange one.

I have an Opal which is identical except for the carbon fiber used.
Buy it. You'll love it.

The Onix is a great all around road bike. It is not a harsh ride. It is stiff but not too stiff. Mine is DA with mavic SL wheels and it come in at 17.3lbs so it is light enough for just about anything......unless your a real weight weenie. Orbea-USA is in my home town so Orbeas are common. They have a life time warranty on their framesets and a very liberal crash replacement system.

I have the Onix in orange. It is a very nice ride. Orange frameset with orange bar tape = Sweet.

I've an Orange/Black 2005 Onix and am very happy with it. I've wanted to upgrade to the Orca for the last 2 years, for only aesthetically reason, but I just can't seem to part with the Onix.

i have one. It's nice. If you're planning on racing and/or are a big guy, i'd look into the opal.

Love my 2007 TDF. You'll want to upgrade the wheels soon, so think about that as part of the price.

I have an Orbea Opal and i love it, very stiff and responsive. I like the larger weave that Orbea uses on the Opal but the Onix looks very nice as well, alot better than a madone

Very nice bike. Orbea is a great company for any warranty problems, too.

Bikes: Orbea Onix 07

I've been riding a red/black Onix since Oct of 07. It was my first new road bike in about 15 years. I choose it for the deal I got, but also because of the ride. I picked it over trek and bianchi rides.

It is equipped with Mavic Equipes, FSA crank and full Ultegra. I just upgraded to an Arione saddle in red a month ago. Nice feel to it. But the bike is fun and a nice ride. Hills are soooo easy now. I managed to ride twice a week for a total of 2-3 hours here in the Carolinas. Not bad for a 50 yr old.

I have heard nothing but good things about the bikes and company and warranty. Don't think you can go wrong and I love my ride. BTW, I paid 2200 bucks out the door.

good luck........
