Etymology of the word " 'taint"

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bikes: Roadbike, commuterbike and wife's "Bike with a bell and a basket" 3 speed.

Etymology of the word " 'taint"

Where did this word come from to refer to the perineal area between the legs?

Men and women both have a 'taint I assume. But who or what made this word " 'taint" colloquial for the hurting place in cycling?

Wandering minds need to know...

From the definition given to me long ago not to be repeated here, woman do not have a taint. Brooklyn rider figure that out on your own.

Actually, someone in this thread said that women don't have them, but back in the late 60's women were the only ones I heard the term used for.

'tain't p***y, 'tain't a-hole, jus' 'tain't.

Same in the 80's. That's how my crusty old 20yr Navy vet uncle explained it to me one day while we were fishing and he was 'structing me about chics (I was a 15 or so). However, his version went:

"t'ain't *****, t'aint ******* neither, taint the right spot t'all"

He's the same one who mentioned with a totally deadpan face at a big family holiday dinner that he'd been to the optometrist that afternoon because he needed a new part of testicles. My grandmother almost choked...
