When this happens I go to the front and pull. Unless of course the group ride is harder than any race I've ever done, which is often the case in Arizona.

I have guys cutting me off in Prospect all the time and riding me into the jogger's lane cones. Is that 'coning'?

I'll take that as a 'yes'.
P.S. In PP you dial it down to 400w after the hill and it narrows quite a bit; that's where I get ridden (almost) into the cones. That's why I have the grimace on my pretty face in that photograph. Fortunately Pcad's cool bike handling skills allows him to avert disaster with a non-chalance that would boggle the Cat V mind.

In NY, CT, etc., it's unusual to have massive crosswinds unless a truck just went by. Well, maybe not up north, in the boonies.
But on long, straight stretches of road with no trees around, crosswinds are somewhat normal. Yesterday I had to ride with my front wheel up by the other guy's cranks to get any kind of protection. I live in the boonies and we went by a llama farm (in CT!), sheep farm, and regular cow and horse farms too. Or whatever they call them. Ranches?
Anyway I'd move over a bit so the guy riding with me could sit in a bit.
That gutter guy in the OP was just being a d*ck.
