Short stems?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My riding buddy has a 70mm with a 10 deg. angle, and it's flipped up. I've never asked but I bet it is real "twitchy". Thomson x2 I believe.

I've seen them down to 40 and up to 140. Try ebay, lots of stems there.

60 mm is usually the shortest length that you can get with a 26 mm bar clamp. 50 mm is available for a 25.4 mm bar clamp and some REALY chunky stems can be found in 40 mm length for downhill use.

Look at the Freeride section of Mountain bikes.
