I freaking love Berkeley and can't wait to get back there. What do people have against that town except the handful of loudmouths that always make the news? As powpow said, incredible riding right out your front door.

Did you yell out, "Go Speed Racer, go".

I am really getting scared of this Fred thing. That would shock me to look in the mirror and know I'm fred.

if he was wearing his helmet then i'll bet he was also wearing his cycling shoes and ready-to-ride immediately. |

So I'm driving behind a Mazda Miata, top up with a bike on the bike. The bike was anti-OCP with dork disc, reflectors, mirrors, etc. I just happened to notice it because I was behind the car for a couple of blocks. Then I noticed something else looked... odd.
As I pulled up next to the little red Miata at a light I looked over and yep - he really was wearing his helmet in the car. With requisite third eye attached. And looking none too comfortable. Bad move or hot trend? Discuss. In my case, I'd driven up to ride with a buddy and after a day of hard riding I was tired and just forgot I had my helmet on. |

Look for my post where I drove from Vermont to MA with my helmet on (and since I had a hatchback, I threw the bike in the back and you couldn't see it). I got some very weird reactions from other drivers and people gave me lots of space (since of course they couldn't see the bike)

Freds in Berkeley????
Moooooooo! |
It's Fred-city here (not to mention the SS/FG hipsters crawling everywhere and the stoners on Telegraph).
Only 8 miles away: http://youtube.com/watch?v=7pGemlwmDZo Combine page 3 of http://www.wccc-info.com/2008/Road/flyers/2008_UCB.pdf with http://youtube.com/watch?v=hQGLNPJ9VCE and it may go a bit back downhill..... but we have fun. |
Still need to know.....
What the hell is OCP? |
^^^^
search, read for 3 weeks, then feel free to discuss. |
don't talk ish on Berkeley. I love that town. May be full of hippies, but they're better than repubs. They can organize, strike, and stop BS form happening in their town before you blink. Gotta love it, even the hippies....

Sorry to say. I've forgotten to remove my helmet while driving home from a ride. Guess, they feel so natural. But, usually I notice I'm wearing the helmet by at least the first red light.
