Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

swapping a two bolt face plate for four bolt

I just stripped one of the holes in my TTT Zepp stem, and through my tears, I noticed that the stem is in fact drilled for a four bolt plate, with four brand new threaded holes for the same size bolt on either side of the two center ones.

I don't suppose it's possible to simply swap one face plate for another e.g. whatever I can scare up? If it's possible at all, would simply a ttt 4 bolt 26mm clamp face plate do, or would it have to be specifically for the Zepp and/or would it have to be for the Zepp of the same year (which is unknown technically, though it came on a 2001 Jamis)?

I'm assuming I just have to recycle this stem, but hope springs eternal.

probably a quicker solution is to drll that hole out smooth, re-tap to a larger bolt/pitch.

You can buy a nice newer stem on ebay for $25.00. Might be the way to go.
