Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

You need a softbox setup like 55/RAD or use multiple strobes... You can pretty much alter a lot by using the light filters in photoshop....

You also need really good lenses. a portrait lense perhaps with 1.4 focal length... that will definitely produce some wonderful effects. At this point you really need a digital SLR or use the lens filter in photoshop to get the bokeh (blurring of the background or extreme foreground.

You may have to setup them up thematically, like a wet look, something that use lace, pink, oil, sputtered upon, maybe a twosome, threesome deal, how about chaining the bike? Brooks saddles, leather bars?

You can even make white lightning or Stans look really erotic or kinky on the valves or cogs.

Point and shoot cameras will typically have a wider depth of field regardless of the aperture being used because of the smaller sensor inside the camera.

But in order to get the shallowest DOF, try zooming out all the way and frame the shot with your feet.
