Does anyone know exactly what the difference between these 2 frames is?

Trek 5000/5200/5500 all use the OCLV 120 carbon setup. 5000 and 5200 use the 120 fork while the 5500 uses the 110. Unless you are highly, highly experienced, I doubt most people notice a difference in the way they feel.

And the decals are different too.

Actually, the 2007 5000 (and I think the 2006) are TCT carbon, not OCLV. I have one of the TCT versions. It's a great bike, just not the lightest carbon bike made.

Rad is correct. The frames on the 5000 line of OCLVs are the same. The 5000, 5200, 5500 and 5900 are all the same frame design and geometry. As 6 stringer stated...the 2006 and newer 5000 is made from TCT carbon not OCLV (i.e. handmade in Trek's Wisconsin plant).

The last year Trek made both the 5500 and the 5000 was 2004. After that, the 5500 went away and the Madones came online, sans a 5.5 version. In '05, the 5000 was still OCLV and in '06, it became the TCT.

They made the 5000 until 2007. I almost bought one last year, but got a 2200 instead. At the time the 5000 was on their site under current 2007 models.

This year the entire line was discontinued.

My 2200 was killed a little over a months ago, but all the components seem to be fine. I was going to upgrade to the 5000 (replacement frame only). Trek screwed up and sent a 5500 to paint instead...but I'm getting it for the same price since it was their error.
