Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

i loved the large-scale pictures....sweet!
not thrilled with an 11-speed option because i'm convinced chain stretch / strength will become a factor.
rear derailleur is visually beautiful.

i've got an all-titanium campagnolo record 11-23 on one set of carbon wheels.
i've got an all-titanium campagnolo record 12-25 on another set of aluminum wheels.
dig them both. if the titanium eventually wears, i'll just purchase another since it enhances the sport i love so much.

Has anyone noticed...

1. The cassette is only a 9 speed?

2. The cassette has no machined shift ramps?

**********????

The shifters are interesting. Originally, I thought they were.... eewwww!!! But, the inward curve where the thumb rests is an interesting attempt at achieving further ergonomic comfort. I'm also assuming the holes in the brake lever are meant to lower wieght, and provide access for perhaps... lubing, and/or routing cables?

The swoopy-looking hoods and levers? pass.
The 11-gear drivetrain? *insert 'Spinal Tap' joke here*
The price? It makes every frame in existence completely over-grouped.

That said, I look forward to riding with the dentists on their 11-speed Sevens and Serottas. They will, no doubt, be pretty beautiful bikes.

I'll take SRAM, thankyouverymuch.

I count 11... the real bike nerd would notice the lockring isn't splined.

Imagining that's just the way the image was clipped. Unless they're following through with that one-piece cassette+free-hub+axle design a la Ultra-Torque.

I'm glad that after being put through its paces by a group of italian engineers and international pro cyclists, we're able to identify the shortcomings of this group based on 4 pictures and zero miles of riding. A public service, really.

Hope you're kidding. If not you didn't read any of the explanations. It's steel vs Ti. Aluminum would make a bad gear tooth for a bike cog.

Amazing how rumors get started. Where did you get 11-27 from? me? 12-27 is 11sp already.

OP should have posted the original link to the info.

https://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/news/...le_258884.html

FTA: "The new 11-speed cassettes are available in 11-23, 11-25, 12-25 and 12-27 ranges."

Frankly none of those cassettes have gear ratio gaps large enough to justify 11sp to me.

For the love of Pete. We get it. It's like Spinal Tap. The cassette now goes to eleven.

People think they're the only ones who found that image on Google.

Rant aside, I'm glad to see that rarest of metals -- drillium -- finally make its way to Campy carbon shifters.

Dont laugh. Corporate people are often saddled with limitations --

Accounting - "Nobody is gonna buy it at this price! make it cheaper!"
Marketing - "can't beat Shimano if we ship like that..."
Production - "We can't make it like that and roll out more then 2,000 units a month!"
The boss (to consultants) - "I hope u like my input." (they better).

We here don't care, we just want WHAT'S RIGHT!

the SRAM red cassette is still considerably cheaper than a 10 sp record cassette...

Plus, by having no ti cogs, it should last considerably longer.
