Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

From the article....

Jerseys from the Tour de France, which Armstrong won seven times, from 1999 to 2005, are displayed in the media/game room. “He didn’t want them in a prominent place,” says Materanek. J. Robert Scott spotted pillow print. Dedar fabric on chair and ottoman in foreground. Pollack mohair on side chair. Great Plains wool on cocktail ottoman.
my memory is pretty clear on what he said. it stuck in my mind, because those jerseys are so difficult to get. i also saw lance give one to matt lauer on the today show, and as he was handing it over, he mentioned to matt that it was a real jersey that he wore in the tour. matt had no reaction to the statement, in fact, he almost smirked at the remark. i never did like that bald headed ******bag.

Nice house I have no problem with someone who has earned their money spending it on whatever the heck they want to.

At least he's still living in Austin, where his roots are, and not Hollywood.

I don't have much taste in architecture, and prefer smaller houses, but he has the money, and it does look impressive. Love him, hate him, or indifferent, Lance Armstrong has done more than any one person to make road cycling widely socially acceptable in Texas, IMHO. After years off bikes, I bought my first road bike in 1998, before Lance Armstrong's first TdF win, and witnessed the the change in attitudes of many motorists toward cyclists riding on the pavement. Not all motorists, of course!

BTW...Weisel is a national championship rider in his own right. Another thing to hate them for.

Excellent championship rider and rich too.

Bahh. I like the yard and pool more than the house. My sister's house has a full elevator in it and it's only two floors.

My neighbor's house has an elevator.

Right, can't ride bike up an elevator.

But you can clean a chain in one.
