Cateye Computer Question

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cateye Computer Question

I am on my 3rd Cateye wired computer for a variety of reasons. I seem to always have the same problem where it no longer registers the speed, stays on 0 MPH. When I tap the unit, sometimes takes a few taps, the speed reappears. Any suggestions on how to fix this permanently?

I had the problem of my speed showing 0 mph sometimes while my cadence sensor still received data. I have the cateye astrale 8 which is wired.

Jiggling this computer unit would make the speed come back but this would happen repeatedly on rides at times and I wanted a better solution.

I posted on here and someone suggested that I loosen the computer strap because screwing it too tight may warp the plastic computer mount, making it easier for the metal contacts to lose connection. I loosened the mount strap on my handle bars and I never get the problem anymore!! thanks to whoever suggested that to me. not sure if it'll work for u but it's worth a try.

My OS 1.0 started doing this just before I got my new bike and had a Strada Wireless put on it. I have no idea what could cause it other than bad contact on the mount\unit.
