Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Choice between two Felts...

Alright, I've test ridden many, many bikes and have decided to get a Felt F85. That said, I'm not sure whether to go for an 07 or the 08. Checking Felt's website, I've found the following differences:

07: -HEADSET -FSA 1-1/8" Integrated
-CRANKSET -FSA Gossamer, 3-PC Alloy with CNC 7075/T6 Alloy Chainrings and ISIS BB, 50/36T
-BB SET -Cartridge with CRMO ISIS Spindle
-F/HUB -Alex AKX R2.0 Alloy, 20H; 650 Alex AKX R2.0 TRI Alloy, 20H
-R/HUB -Alex AKX R2.0 Alloy, 24H; 650 Alex AKX R2.0 TRI Alloy, 24H
-RIMS -Alex AKX R2.0 with CSW Braking Surface; 650 Alex AKX R2.0 TRI with CSW Braking Surface
-SPOKES -Alex AKX R2.0, Round Spokes; 650c Alex AKX R2.0 TRI, Round Spokes

08: -Headset -Cane Creek type 1 1/8" Integrated with 20mm Cone and 3 X 5mm Spacer Stack
-Crankset -FSA Gossamer Compact Mega EXO, 2 piece, Forged Aluminum with CNC 7075 T6 Alloy Chainrings, 50/34T
-BB Set -FSA Mega EXO
-Saddle -FELT 1.3 Road Saddle with Carbon Injected Base, Embossed Cover and Hollow Chrome Moly Rails
-F/Hub -Felt Sealed Forged Aluminum with Quick Release
-R/Hub -Felt Forged Aluminum Sealed Shimano 10, 9, or 8 speed Compatible Cassette with Quick Release, 32H
-Rims -MAVIC CXP-22S Aluminum Rim with Eyelets and Machined UB Control Braking Surface and Wear Indicator
-Spokes -DT Stainless 14 G

My question is, is there anything that is better that could help my decision? Most notably, I'm looking at the crankset or the rims.

alex wheels suck, so do isis bb's (they're ok actually but wear out fast, plus they're just old tech.)
i'd go with the 08 for sure, unless you're getting a screaming deal on the 07

I wanted a 2008 but my LBS did not stock the F85. They called Felt to order me one last week and they were completely out of 2008 F85 stock. I'm waiting to see what the 2009 model looks like.

Bikes: Felt F4; Surly Crosscheck

The color of the 2008 is enough to make me want the 2007.

I love the unique look of the 2008 but cannot get one

I hope they stick with the same colors for 2009.

Thanks for the help guys. Gonna see if there are any 08s around. If not, 07 it is. I'm not really too keen on either color so that doesn't matter as much.

audiofx, whereabouts are you in OH? Just wanna make sure that if you're around my neck of the woods that nobody around here would have the 08s.

Might be able to pick up an 07 F75 for the price of an 08 F85...

Well, so far there haven't been any F75s around for cheap but there is an 06 F65 for about $1300. That's a little more than I want to spend though and the components aren't that much better to justify it I don't think.

Bikes: '06 Cannondale Six 13 Pro 2, '05 Specialized Allez Elite, '04 Jamis Satellite, 90's Raleigh M-45 single speed conversion, 80's Fuji Team single speed conversion, 70's Schwinn World Sport

Went through 2 sets of Alex wheels on my Allez, until the LBS replaced them with CXP33 w. Ultegra hubs. They're not light, but they won't self destruct.
