Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Col de Mel Torme?

I have to ask - why the H**L would France name a mountain after an American singer? He wasn't even French - he was a Jew.

The Woo is perplexed.

The French are huge fans of Mel Torme, so they named a mountain after him.

Last year the Tour rode over the Col de Jerry Lewis, a bitter climb that has gotten wider over the years.

And its, "he's Jewish," not "a Jew," which if you're not Jewish can be phrased derogatorily (or at least taken that way). You don't see people insulting your race here do you, Woo?
