Do you shave your legs, and why?

I've been on the injured reserve list for the last month and my legs have finally healed. I admit that I'm a terrible shaver. It was a blood letting every time.

Riding in a pack, taking a spill is not the worst thing. Having the ER doc pull rocks, tar, and chunks of glass out of your legs is far easier w/out a brush to navigate around. Plus infection is very likely when your legs are like a cheese grater had a field day on them.

No. I don't race often enough for crashing to be a concern (knock on wood). Shaving my face is a huge PITA, my legs are bigger than my face, so logically shaving my legs would be an even bigger PITA.
I also get way more points in the Fat Cyclist Training System when I pass guys with shaved legs on carbon bikes.

For all the leg shavers....
Is there any better feeling than putting on pants/shorts right after you shave? It is the best feeling ever.

I shaved for years back when I was "racing" Juniors. I caught a ton of flak. That will happen when you're in 7th-8th grade in El Paso Texas and you are a dude shaving your legs.
With cycling shaving is th price of admission to the community of racers. If you don't, unless you're stomping everyone like waterrockets is, you can/will be shunned.
I am currently racing with full hair in effect. It looks like crap and feels like crap, but I am not "allowed" to shave. My wife. Thread about it last year sometime.
I think she might be seeing the point now, but at this late point in the season it would be a next year thing anyway.
...hey...look....a shaving thread in Road Cycling....an it's an old one too....

...especially if that wound comes from cycling. She'd be like, "serves you right. Want some help? Why don't you go ask your bike for help. Looks like it hurts. "

Things I have noticed re shaved legs;
-A guy doesn't look complete on a high end road bike with full kit (and he's in good shape) without shaved legs
-I've noticed in group rides; the guys with hairy legs are slow and some are out of shape, the guys with shaved legs are all in shape and very fast (and never seem to get tired)
-a female partner I ride with sometimes said I should shave my legs because they'd look even better (and they're all tanned too), but I hate shaving my face everyday, I can't imagine even more reale state to shave each week
-but...if I ever get a high end carbon gee whiz bike, then I'll feel compelled to shave them and destroy the hairy leg riders....

I shave for 3 reasons:
1. If I crash, makes the road rash less sever, results in less pain with the scrubbin, and makes changin the bandage easier.
2. It makes me look sexy.
3. Makes clean up after a wet, dirty ride much, much easier.

You guys think that roadies are the only people that get injuries to their legs? Many other sports, hobbies, occupations cause injuries to all parts of the body that have hair on them. They don't shave. You spend how many hours a year keeping the hair off your legs so that if you have an injury, it won't hurt as much cleaning and covering it. So, look at how many spills you have total in a lifetime where it actually paid off to have shaved, and compare that to the hours spent shaving over that period. And talk about HTFU, sheesh, if you take a spill, a little hair in the way shouldn't kill you. No, I stick with the fact that you like it. I think that you shavers saw the swimmers, and liked it.
"I'm too sexy for my bike, too sexy for my bike" which is funny in that that song is from a group called "Right said Fred"

It does. It really does. I love a man with shaved legs. Hairy legs do nothing for me.

Tulex: You're absolutely right. I used to play a lot of baseball when I was in HS. Both for my school and American Legion ball. We played on some really crappy hardpan fields. My legs were pretty much covered with strawberries from March to August. In retrospect, it would have made more sense for me to shave my legs as a third baseman than as a roadie. But I was a kid and even if it had occurred to me, I would have never done it.
And you're right. I like it.

Oh...and it's not all about the look. They feel nicer when they're shaved too.
