How do I post pictures? Been a member of different forums for years and never had an issue posting pics until BF.

ViNtAgE carbon. 1988 Calfee/Carbonframes sapphire. I this this is hot . lightweight and vintage look with downtube shifter.
also brown sidewalls.

LOVE the bike.:love: My current "grail" is a Lemond/Carbonframes/Calfee.

The photo is not very flattering, however.
  • back up so the whole bike is in the picture
  • there is a reason white garage doors make a great backdrop
  • rotate the bars
  • big ring
  • lose the CO2

Not!

I was kind of thinking the same thing. 13 and half lbs would be insane for most of us, but that Look setup with MadFiber wheels.. Im suprised it's not closer to 12lbs.

That is the weight with the pedals it is 12.99 with out the pedals.

My handle bars are heavy but i can't seem to give them up because they are so comfortable, and I could go to a lighter seat. The combination could save me another 400 grams or .9 pounds

It's a 98 degree bike...Switch the stem (it's horrific) and you get a pefect 100...seriously though, what a beauty!!

The Stem is Ugly but is an integrated component of the frame

There are some pretty special things I like about that Look. Spent some time on their site for the first time ever checking it all out. Pretty neat stuff. That stem is a complete utter fail product however. For one they don't make it in a 130mm, for too, it is way too heavy, and ugly. Your stem being not angled down enough just looks weird, it looks like it is set at zero degrees, which is never hot. Get some new bars, stem, and saddle, and that thing could close to the 11lb rang. :o

i disagree about the stem, if well fitted it looks aesthetic on the bike, i agree i looks bulky...but i like it. still that look NOT for this threads standards....those wheels are just so F-ing nice!!!

Thanks for the feedback, although your information about the stem is not correct, the stem is adjustable by 10mm, here are the specifications from Look's website, I have the 120mm to 130mm length:

C-STEM INCLINABLE FROM -9° TO +13° AND
ADJUSTABLE IN LENGTH (10mm) - 5 LENGTHS
AVAILABLE = 80 – 90 / 90-100 /
100-110/110-120/120-130 mm

As far as the angle of the Stem, the bike was fit by one of the top Bike fitters in the world : Steve Hogg, that is how he set it based on my sizing and flexibility. I understand from an aesthetic point of view it would look better angled down more but that is how the bike fits me.

As far as the weight the Stem only weighs 160grams.

X-LinkedRider 01-09-12 06:16 PM

Yeah seriously. How do you like those MadFibers? mmm Ribbon Spokes... mmm....

Oh, I didn't notice that about the stem length being adjustable. Like I said this Look brand stuff is all new to me. You should tell Steve that you are more flexible than that, and lower the stem. 160 is kinda heavy too. Anything over 150g is just plain unacceptable.

The Look is an absolutely awesome machine, and the Mad Fiber wheels look much better without the decals, but for me the stem and the bend in the top tube make it a Not.

So all bikes with bent top tubes are automatically a 'Not'? :)

I do not like the larger sizes of the Venge for the same reason (and it is not as pronounced). Your mileage may vary.

I think LOOK bikes are hot in general, especially because the logos scream LOOK!

JSS's Look is really cool. I like it. Aesthetically, I can deal with the integrated stuff. My only real gripe with the setup is the rotation of the bar. The saddle to bar drop/stem angle and the frame size hurt the overall hotness, but what can you do... Anyway, this setup creeps by because of it's unique aesthetic which doesn't make those things suck as much as some frames would.

Btw, 160g for a stem is not heavy. It's not exceptionally light, but I wouldn't be upset if every stem was 160g. Road stems really shouldn't be more than that, imo.

I say hot even though I'm not a big fan of Mad Fiber or Sram.

Not when you don't need the extra 20 grams in spacers.. It is not a direct swap for a standard stem. This replaces the whole stack...

Not my doors and quite bizarre chance that I came across them. My shake down ride was aimed down at the river Marne where I figured I'd stop, take photos and come back again. A nice easy first ride. So I get where I want to be - in front of one boat house looking out across the river with some nice buildings on the far bank but the day is overcast and the river is dull. It's far from inspiring right there and then. So I'm thinking what to do as I turn around and notice that the boat house I'm in front of has these huge blue doors pretty much identical to the blue on the bike. Perfect I think.

Other good/lucky colour coordinations: the Ultegra SL 'Ice Grey' anodising is more or less identical to that of the 3T 'Gunmetal' grey on the Status/Prima 220 combo up front.

I think LOOK bikes are hot in general, especially because the logos scream LOOK!
I think their paint schemes have been pretty hit and miss myself (except these last couple of years which have been pretty top), but I noticed plenty of people did Look as I went past. It's hard not to be noticed on a giant banana bike.

Thanks for the note, The thread is hot or not, and Hot or not is all personal preference. Some will like it some will not, I just enjoy the conversation and different point of views.

At the end of the day I bought the bike for fit and performance, it provided the best fit, comfort and performance I could find. I am 49 the time for aggressive drops and stem angles is gone for me.

The integrated stem and fork provides insane handling, and the power transfer from the integrated cranks in incredible. I have been able to increase my average speed on my last century by 1.5mph to 21.8mph and have no neck or back stress at all.

Hot. Possibly even hotter with a different crankset though. Also, with such an aggressively styled seatpost it would be more visually balanced with the saddle further back, but obviously that's a matter of fit.
