I don't think so.....

The price per pound makes it a NOT.

Does that mean that only cheap bikes are hot? I didn't realize this was called hot or not for the price

I don't care what the BF nitpickers say...the Alpha is plain badass.

I highly doubt this is an off the shelf frame. So to the guys hating on the color...if you were able to afford one. I'm sure you can custom paint it whatever color you want. :)

Just want to mention that the frame is cheap and only a 12k carbon weave you can buy a complete 105 bike for $1400.00

Incorrect. It is just for people who don't mind changing their **** more often than another color.

Let's not let our personal feelings get in the way of logic here. (oh wait, FAR TOO LATE for that).

The updated pictures of the look are awesome. Definitely don't need a 3t/zipp stem to fit in - in my mind. Besides you have gone from (WTF is with that bar height) to 'HOT' with a free adjustment. People wanting you to buy a stem that is not even close to comparable to replace that look stem is like asking you to replace your porsche wheels with pep boy wheels because they look cooler.

Both the colnagos are HOT and I have always been a fan of TCR's.

UCI, those MAX LELLI's are beautiful despite the heavy ass wheels.

Glad to see this thread turned around as quickly as is turned bad!

Soloist Assassin 03-03-12 03:44 PM

I'm sorry, but that Look stem is the ugliest piece of trash, I've ever seen.

+1 clearly money wasn't an issue with this bike. I am sure you could have gotten it painted with purple flames if you really wanted. Lol. (I used to have a kickass Dodge Dakota Full size raised up with purple flames (front quarter) on black paint. - not my color choice, but the truck was too good not to purchase on that alone. It served me well)
What something costs and what somebody pays for it are totally different things as well. So that 20k is probably more like 10 realistically.

No its 20k, they make them to order, believe me I tried to negotiate, you ever try to bargain down a German who doesn't need the $$$$$

I <3 Robots 03-03-12 04:12 PM

The thing with AX Lightness is...is their stuff actually costs that much. I highly doubt that you can realistically build that particular bike for 10k.

The brake set alone will set you back 1500 bucks. Unless you have one heck of a connection...10k is not possible.

The frame is priced starting at $8900 plus shipping and duty from Germany up to $11,900.00 depending on things like paint scheme and internal wiring for Di2. base frame would land you mid 9k. The stem is 995, the seat is 575, , the brakes are 995, the wheels are 2500, the cranks are 1800, the seatpost is 575, then you have to buy the groupo, that's about 17,500 before all the other parts (pedals, cages, tires etc..)

Soloist Assassin 03-03-12 04:37 PM

Hasn't AX had a rash of recent failures? I seem to remember hearing about the seatposts breaking. That would be an expensive, and eventually painful purchase.

I will by summer. Still, that's ridiculous. I dare to say the stiffness of their $1000 stem is most likely certainly lacking. I wanted to buy an Extralite stem when I ended up buying my Zipp SCSL. I decided stiffness>weight on that purchase. It was a tough call, but I figure I can always buy an Extralite later. The AX is another 30-40g lighter than Extralite. That is just plain scarey.
