Now let's see what you can do with some glass and lighting...

I used the components from my old bike.

Yep - I need to make some time to experiment.

wow nice! you could sell off all the old stuff and almost have enough for a whole Rival group from ribble/eBay to slap on that brand new frame. The frame's so new it almost demands a brand new groupset. Its already hot though.... those Giant Frames are designed by guys who know how to make a super sloping TT frame look clean sans vulgarity.

Thanks! That's a thought, although honestly I'm content at the moment just having a bike that works. Almost don't want to start effing with it right now. :D Although I could sell the Ultegra shifters and RD and probably pay for Rival equivalents - and so it goes... :D

I want to stay with Planet X brakes (will be buying some soon), so really I don't even need a full group.

bianchi10 09-04-12 08:02 AM

How do those planet x brakes compare to ultegra?

about 100 grams lighter.

bianchi10 09-04-12 09:17 AM

What about strength and stopping power?

It's Raven. I just figured they are prettier and lighter. ;)

Performance is something I can't answer on them. I personally like My Force Brakes > Tektro 741 > Shimano Brakes. The 741's are nice though, especially for the weight, they function NOICE. I just like the Force brakes better because it goes with the rest of the group ;)

They feel/stop/modulate identical to Ultegra to me. I ran Zero G's and tossed them because of performance issues. From what I can tell there is no performance difference between the planet x and ultegras - although mine have Swiss Stop Green pads which are excellent and probably help a lot.

Most def the wrong thread to ask questions about your bike, especially since you bike is facing the wrong way in that pic.

Other people may or may not think it's "hot" per se... but I think it's quite classy... :thumb:

Niiiiice.... It is screaming for white tape tho! Alternatively, you could go red tape but white hoods if you want to buck the trends...

I love the Pinarello frame look. (New guy here) but those wheels and tires almost look retro?? White bar tape is fine, but I've had it and it just turns dirty way too fast for me... So red, maybe or how about grey?

Cheap white tape dirties awfully fast. Quality tape stays cleaner much longer and cleans up easier when it is dirty.Red or white would look great on that bike.

Glossy white Fitzik would look awesome and is very resistant to getting dirty. Spendy though. I have the glossy black on my new Giant.

General rule of thumb in the Hot or Not thread is if you are only presenting one pic it should be of the drive side.

They're tubulars - not so easy to find these days at a reasonable price. Have you priced out a set of new tubulars lately? Too dear for me.

Here's my S5 (56): ROlling on Boyd 58s. The 50/34 (11-25) rings that came with the bike were a joke, so I put on 52/38s (12-25) and that has made a TON of difference. Hoping to get out and get a proper picture soon. Yes, I'm aware of the Rule #48 violation. ISM recommends the rails be horizontal to just barely over, and it works. Scary fast!
