I think the bike has potential. Maybe needs a better picture, shadows kinda distract. It also needs a better photo angle. The angle it was taken makes it look like it has a weird stem angle/bar angle. I dislike the white saddle/tape/pedals on this also but that's just my thoughts. If you had black bar tape, saddle and pedals I don't think the red on the wheels would be any kind of issue at all.

I'll see if I can't get a better photo. I don't have a white garage door, so this was the best I could do in my hurry to get a photo before the sun set for the day. "Hand of God" isn't always easy to achieve, so I'll see what I can drum up. Understood on the white details, but I personally dislike black bar tape, it just looks boring. However, I think you're right about the red issue becoming a non-issue if I did switch it. Time to look at saddles again...
I always felt the same way about black bar tape. I used charcoal for the longest time. Then started thinking about the gloss black and I love it. Got some glossy black fizik microtex and it just pops! dont know how it would look on your bike being that it has a flat matte finish, but still another option when black feels boring. http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...MG_2531-PS.jpg http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...r/IMG_2543.jpg |

http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=290947 None of this would be brought up in another thread, it's a nice bike. However, you posted in the "hot or not" thread. |
Dont get me wrong, its a very nice bike. I'm very particular when it comes to what is appealing to my eye.
The bike looks unbalanced to me. mainly because the line of paint seems to seperate large tubing to small tubing. almost looks like 2 different bikes were welded together. your headtube and stack of spacers is very large in diameter comparative to the seatube and rear part of the bike. Your stem also very large (looks like a sprinters stem of some sort). Going back to the spacer stack, it is very tall. This may fit you best, but as far as aesthetics go, it doesn't look good. I dont like the shape of your bars, to ergo for me. Your hoods are high on the bars which looks weird to me. Tall headtube, which gives it a minimal aggresive look. I know the purpose of a taller headtube, but again for eye appeal, I just dont care for the "Looks" of it. I personally dont like mix matched colored cages. I see what you were doing with one side being silver and the other black, but I say stick with one color. The seatpost just looks ugly to me. like the cages, I would rather have a seatpost that is mainly one color. you could do something like an all silver thomson or stick with a black seatpost. Sorry, Really dont mean any disrespect. Its a very nice bike and I have no doubt it rides well. but as for looks, those are a few things that stick out to me. |

Well, I did miss the rear tire label position, must have been in a hurry installing the tire for a ride. Note your rear tire labels are also off. So, the SuperSix is ok. I'm not a fan of Ritchey parts. Nor do I care for shiny bar tape and a lot of electrical tape on the ends which are uneven. I also do not like the black chain rings. Your headset cap has a taller stack than mine so my spacer stack may seem a bit tall. I can climb much better with the shifters in this higher position (as do a lot of pros these days). In the shop I work at, most racers are requesting we sit the shifters high. The cages are aluminum and carbon, aluminum in the rear, carbon on the front to match the frame material. It's a theme thing here folks. The stem is Cannondale's OEM for the head tube diameter. If you put a smaller stem on, it REALLY looks goofy. The seat post matches the bars. I am in the process of changing them out for ITM Phantom. All in all, thanks for the comments. I really thought the Flite classic saddle would get booted as ugly.

http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=290947 I think its a pretty killer bike. Full 7800 and 404's...can't beat that with a bat. I had a System also...regret selling it big time. |

@cycledogg, its no sweat off my sack if you don't like my bike, But I have this weird feeling that you are saying so because I didn't like yours. I think you are also blending what lowcell said about your bike with what I said. Most of it matches dead on though so I can see why that happened. I didn't mention anything about your old looking zipp decals or your tire labels being off, so you pointing out that mine being off has nothing to do with what i said. My stem conical spacer is not taller than your stack, sorry. My spacer is 25mm. you have what appears to be a 10mm conical spacer and (hard to see but from what I can tell) 5 5mm spacers which puts you at a 35mm stack vs my 25mm. You can dislike my bike all you like because this thread is all about personal opinion, but I'll bet you that if our bikes were up for vote I would get 9 out of 10 people that liked mine over yours. just saying What are your reasons for not liking ritchey parts? To light for your liking? |
