I said the same thing. Now I'm looking for SUB 15lbs. I wont quit now till I see 14.XX, I dont care if it only says 14.9999999, I will get there.
My CAAD10 in 58 is sitting high 15s right now with "heavy" wheels by WW standards. They are 1650g +600g Fusion 3 tubeless tires + sealant/valves + Ultegra cassette. I can get it close to mid 14 with a light tubular wheelset and red cassette. Also still have a 240g aluminum seatpost that can drop a chunk of weight. |
I don't want to go tubular though

Yes, I have 2 R2000si since last Friday. I hope some people were impressed by this fact. I would not call "modification" wheels and handlebar tapes swap.
If I will get 5 more R2000si I still would not look as cool as the guy with 13lbs bike with Reynolds wheels. Eventually I will make one of them 15 lbs race machine and the other flat-bar hybrid to pull kids trailer...or fixie. ;) |
Cleave - Super HOT bike. Only the S-Works stem bothers me slightly, although it does add a little quirky charm.
bianchi10 - If you want to go light, you gotta go tubular. There's really not much to be afraid of. Vittorias mount super easy - I went with them for my first tubular tire install and I couldn't believe what all the fuss is about! |

I got the S2 down to 12.98, but it currently sits at 13.07lbs. It's a pig heavy aero bike though you know....

Hi,
Thanks for the votes of hotness. I know how hotness is in the eye of the beholder and YMMV and... I just wish it was red. :D

I got dropped on the climb riding my 14.5 lb SuperSix Hi-Mod. :o What is funny to me is that I am not inherently a weight weenie. In fact, the Specialized stem is one of the heavier stems that I could have used on this bike. Record-10 stuff is light but not the lightest and the Look Kéo Max 2 Carbon pedals are heavier than the Kéo Carbon pedals that I used last year. Admittedly, the Zipp carbon cages are weight weenie pieces, but they hold the bottles as securely as any cage that I've owned. |

I'm still amazed at the weight of your S2. Mine is stuck at 15lb limbo. If I pull the plastic Elite cages I'd be in the high 14's...but that's cheating.

You got me on the cranks and post/saddle combo and tuning.
I have 404 tubulars, Gravitas brakes, Rotor 3D/Aero Q-Rings. My SC CSL bars are on the heavier side. I'm also running the heavier Vittoria Corsa CR on the front wheel and the CX II on the rear. I'm trying to decide whether to go with the new Ciamillo crank. Even at my cost...its still a decent chunk of change. Here is how it stands now. Maybe just one part away. Like a Red cassette... http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z...pscc558e7d.jpg |
Very nice! Keep in mind my post/saddle combo is 7g lighter than my original seatpost was with the original hardware. So whatever your saddle weighs is increase +7g. That, and the cranks/chainrings are probably the big difference. Not sure if you have ti spindles in your pedals or not, but that is a big savings. Your bars are probably close to the weight of my Vukas. Vukas are heavy mine were 232g before I cut the ends down. Then all those small little differences add up. The brakes, cassette, cages, skewers, and the 23g I cut out of my RD. Plus your bike looks to be a 56cm, and mine is a 54cm. Or maybe you are just way shorter than me. I think I actually like the look of your bike with the -17 stem better than my setup. Mine just looks like it has a ton of exposed seatpost, which it does, but the post combo exaggerates that. If you wanted to, you could be sub thirteen. It would just cost a bunch. I still kick around the idea of the THM Scapula F fork and dropping it well below thirteen, but I hear it isn't as aero as my Funda Pro. Then I think about putting Tri-Rig brakes on, and adding a half pound, and gaining aero. It's always a compromise. For now, I just enjoy it with every pedal stroke. It was a fun project, but burning money on it constantly did get old after awhile.

Its a 54 like yours. I'm 5'8" with more torso than legs.
The Speedplays are stainless. I think the San Marco saddle is around 164gr...a bit lighter than the Specialized Romin it replaced. Zipp advertizes the SC CSL bars at 290gr (not sure what size). Mine are 40cm o-to-o. The Ciamillo cranks are tempting...but even if I sold the Rotor cranks and Q-Rings at full pop...I'd still have to put in extra cash to get the Ciamillo's. I know what you mean by burning money. I think I've gone as far as I want to with this. |

not to get all "photographer" on you, but next time watch for other angles in the photo that may take away from the lines of your bike. AKA...the concrete wheel chalks have a different line than the frame and takes away from the bike for me. Other than lines, there is a lot of background stuff going on and I find it distracting. try to find a wall or background that will allow for good contrast between the background and the subject. This allows for everything on the bike that should be seen to be seen.
I like the bike, but I am hesitant to give it a hot. I think its close but not yet sizzling |
Nagrom, bike looks great, I agree it needs a better background for tis thread though.
