Sure it can. It's a context thing IMO - we're in the roadie sub-forum, so IMO this is where it misses the mark.
Outside of the "road bike hotness" context, yours is a really cool bike. Kinda like if I had a cool Subaru Outback wagon and posted it in a 4x4 truck subforum. That's just my take, based on the flavor of the "road bike" subforum, but hey, I could be way off. Oh, welcome to the 41 ;) (the Road Bike subforum) |

Ah, I see. Before I take my leave, one question. Do you think an all silver derailleur would look good? As in the cage, I have a 9 speed LX hanging around somewhere with a silver cage....
BTW I'm a commuter, too, and do appreciate your bike. I wasn't trying to be a jerk or anything, so apologies if I came off that way. |

Totally. A polished RD would look awesome on that bike IMO. With the hammered fenders, alloy crank and retro-cool frame, it'd go great IMO.

Mustache bars are as comfortable as they are attractive.

I vote stripping the wheel decals. Switching them to the newer gray/black would be an ok alternative too. I've never been a fan of mismatched bottle cages but I almost think your combo would work better if you swapped them so they were on contrasting tubes. |

Well, technically, they are the same. The front is carbon tacx, the rear is aluminum tacx. The bars are Easton EC70 wing and the post is EC70 with a Selle Flite '92 saddle. Full 7800 DA with C1 carbon brakes. I'll look into the deacl suggestion. Thankx!

It did, However I am in the process of updating it to be more modern. I have not been able to find a quill stem with a 31.8 bar mount. Should be getting a new tarmac in a few months.
I guess I don't understand the point of 31.8 if you're going to have the stem that high. It may be very slightly stiffer but the black new parts clash, and there is no shortage of nice looking classic bend silver bars with 26.0 clamps. There are even two compact 26.0 handlebars (Civia Emerson and Soma HWY 1) that are available in silver if you want to run modern compact bars with a quill stem. |
How has this not been stickied? It's basically a sequel to the 'What road bike do you have' thread..

I think the bike has potential. Maybe needs a better picture, shadows kinda distract. It also needs a better photo angle. The angle it was taken makes it look like it has a weird stem angle/bar angle. I dislike the white saddle/tape/pedals on this also but that's just my thoughts. If you had black bar tape, saddle and pedals I don't think the red on the wheels would be any kind of issue at all.
