Thanks! It's a Litespeed Firenze, and is my favorite thing in the world.

Thank you. It actually kinda landed in my lap. It's a blast to ride, and was a lot of fun to build up.

The celeste cages are a bit much, but otherwise Very nice.

Personally, I think that the gum wall tyres are too much.
I don't mind the cages and matching bar tape at all.

Wait til my efforts with Fabric Saddles have resulted in a Celeste saddle with black base and script. THEN we can talk about "a bit much"!:D

Actually, that would help. :) Nothing against the color combo, but I thought it was going well as mostly white. In fact, while others complained about "gumwalls," I liked the tires because I thought they were whitewalls. :o

clean up the cockpit and i'd say it's HOT. Kinda funky with the stem stacked and bars with huge drop. I'd say flip the stem, cut the tube, get compact bars.

is that a custom finish?

lsberrios1 01-02-17 07:15 PM

My commute bike in her new trim. Put some Aksium wheels with Roubaix PRO tires 25/28c. Serfas Thunderbold rear light and Serfas E-Lume 1100. Gonna do some rain and night riding with this bad baby.

that is the proper setup for a bike of that vintage. Compact bars wouldn't be period correct.

Why slam the stem, and then use compact bars so that you can reach the drops?

May not have had have a carbon fibre crankset and derailleur or MTB pedals either if we are going to go down that path.
I somewhat agree with slowjamz.
The rider could end up with a similar position by losing 10-15mm of spacers and using a compact bar without flipping the stem.

point taken, I've always been a bit of a "resto-modder" don't see the point keeping it period unless it's special edition.

the groupset is period correct, but those pedals have to go.

Mtb pedals, belong on mountain bikes.

"Period correct?" Maybe a rider doesn't want tiny-hand compact bars?

 hand size is irrelevant.

Comfort over-rules both.
There are a number of ways to arrive at the same outcome.
My preference would be to not have a "stack-o-spacers" to arrive at it.

exactly, the only reason i said flip the stem and use compact bars is because that setup would leave him with an almost identical setup, assuming he likes the flats all the way up there, and the drops mildly low. I don't like erect stems either, but anything is better than a shlong tube.

I reckon that he could halve the spacers, leave the stem the way it is now and use compact bars for a similar position.
