I know, I only realized that the background was too busy after I went back inside. I'm trying to find a better location that isn't the typical garage door/plain background shot. I'll update the thread with a better shot as soon as I take it.

There is a reason the standard and plain garage door is used though.....

It works :thumb:

Nice bike - hot but someone needs to explain to me why they have 'crit bikes'?
Never really understood the logic.

disposable cheaper frames?…personally I race on a nearly 4k frame,….but if I crash I get it replaced for A LOT less.

As long as it's the same geometry and fit I could care less if what I race is the same as what I train on, and if you're on a budget, I can totally understand racing a cheaper bike than what you train on. We all know the likelihood of crashing in a race is much higher than training.

Agreed but far too often I see people mention a 'crit bike' yet are racing on $2,500 Zipps (case in point above). The likelihood of pancaking a set of wheels is very high (especially in lower cats). I'm not singling out anyone as I had the same conversation with a friend this week about some buddies who have done the same thing.

A plain background makes it much easier to photograph and make out the details on a bike, since a bike itself is quite thin and transparent (various thin pieces and parts). A busy background makes it much more difficult to see the bike itself. And truthfully my garage door is one of the few places in/around my house that has at least 6 feet of uncluttered, uninterrupted wall space.

Another way is to use a DSLR camera with a long telephoto lens at full zoom, with the largest lens aperture opening (lowest f-stop) so that the background will be nice and blurred while the bike is in focus - like the Cannondale Evo bike shot a couple pages back that everyone was so head-over-heels for. But not everyone has that kind of equipment.

Crit bike is the one that the person actually rides between taking pictures of it. The main bike with electronic shifting an all the lightweight parts is always hand polished and kept on the wall for display. Only comes out to take pictures for this thread.

Here's my "crit bike," well, soon to be. Hoping to start racing this year.
OH, chopped the steerer and swapped some bits. Sits just under 15. Calling it done.

My crit bike has a slightly different geo than my training bike. Add to that the Nashbar parts, aluminum frame, and sticky race tires and that's why mine is different I guess. I'm a pretty slow racer, so I tried hard to make it look like a fast bike as well :)

I should have said my race bike, but since I mostly race crits I just equate crits and racing, my mistake. My other bike is a carbon frame that I don't want to race on, especially if they no longer make the frame in the event of crash replacement.

Who cares what you call it, your bike is still HOT.

Really needs an outside pic, but here's my Altamira 1.0 with stealthed out Reynolds Assaults on a powertap. Needs a zero setback seatpost still.

Eh. Almost. No valve caps, matching black seatpost and stem, black seatpost collar, black tape, and black (or no) spacers would make it a lot better imo.
The gold skewers and chain(?) are a nice touch though.

Agree on most of this but I could live with the seatpost if it had a black seatpost collar, the gold collar really breaks up the flow too much. The gold spacers, white stem, and white bar tape really mess up the look of this bike. Seeing valve caps on a bike that nice is really weird. :o

Agree on the seatpost. I don't like it all the way around. As for the white front end, that's what makes the bike for me. Otherwise, it's like every other bike out there, a dime-a-dozen. Not sure how you even notice the gold valve caps... don't you have to squint? At least that proves you're really looking at the photo. ;-)

Sidney Porter 02-06-13 12:14 PM

is the fuji black or navy blue? Either way I think it could be hot if the white and gold went away. The yellow makes it standout enough in a world of black and red bikes

kcollier5 02-06-13 02:46 PM

Oddly, I'd have to disagree. There are WAY too many 'stealth' bikes out there. I like the few quirky splashes of color on this Fuji. I even like the white bar tape and stem and don't normally. I love the navy blue instead of the far more common black and red.

And I'm either blind or you guys are looking WAY too close to see those valve caps... At least they're not black plastic! :D

I vote Hot!
