Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

After Eddy Merckx signed my Merckx Strada, I couldn't find myself riding it anymore. So I picked up another Merckx and swapped all the parts over. Here is the result:

Sorry. To my old eyes, a classic looking lugged steel frame and aero wheels just looks wrong. Like putting 20 inch wheels and 30 series tires on a E-Type Jag or a 55 Bel Air. People do it but that doesn't make it right. I am wondering about this thread. Is this supposed to be a beauty contest or a "how much money I spent" contest? I ask because there are some very pricey bikes here that are downright homely to look at.

I can put my Mavic Aksiums on there if you want.

Too bad I don't ride for your pleasure.

How do you ride that thing with no pedals? Or is it just for display?

Most of these carbon fiber "Beyond Thunderdome" monstrosities leave me cold but this is a good looking bike. Love the electric blue bar tape.

You are correct. If someone can't take the criticism then this is not the thread to be posting a picture of their bike in.

i personally love the look of the of contrasting thin steel tubing with deep section rims.
nothing wrong with updating the style of something classic with new functional pieces.
