I see the Wilier as a prime example of staging diminishing the bike. That background is way too busy, too much detail. It's very distracting and makes it difficult for the bike to stand out.

The bike has potential, but the background is killing it, bro.

Not a good photo, so I can not see the detail of the bike. But, WTF are you doing along side a RR track with a road bike?

Posing as a gravel grinder! ;)

But I put a frame around for people who are easily distracted without white garage doors. My garage door is brown and that probably would have muddled the pic too (and here I was trying to get the bike in focus... dang it)! LOL

Isn't the BIKE either Hot or NOT HOT independent of that, or did we establish that it's a photo contest?!? Hey, at least my valve stems are right!!! ;)

Bicycle in Romance languages is feminine, hence "she" is the appropriate pronoun. In German, it is neutral gender, and the "it" would be appropriate. Since English is a mixture of German (Anglo-Saxon root), Danish (from Viking commerce), and French (from Norman Conquest), either word would fit, but "she" is the most likely more accurate.

Not sure bout you, but I like riding on/in she's, not he's. :D
Hope all those stereotypes about sailors are not all true... ;)

You're not hearing what I'm saying. The background is so distracting it makes judging the bike difficult . . . I can't be sure it's hot, but it has potential. The background is actually acting as camouflage, and your bike has a hard time standing out from those dark colors. The frame around it doesn't do a darn thing. lol

There's a reason a solid background of a neutral color, like a white garage door, is the ideal background. It presents a blank canvas so that whatever you put in front of it will stand out. This factor alone is WAY more important than lining up your valves or your pedals or anything else.

There are other methods. Shipping container? Long lens with wide aperture? Concrete wall? And the list goes on… Just a few ideas to help the bike stand out so we can judge the bike itself. Although I'd rather see picturesque locations and work hard to see the bike.

No, I do get your point... I just find your position to be overkill. And clearly you are undervalueing valve position. (BTW... I'm just having fun with this so don't get worked up. It's all for fun!)

1st its all about staging, then its not about staging, now it all about staging again...

 Oh stop it! You can't be that thick.

Well, maybe . . . .

Again, all the noise about insignificant minutia on the bike is trivial compared to being able to actually see the bike in an uncluttered environment.

Ya gotta be pretty dense to not know what I'm talking about. :innocent:

@K1196A I'll give that Wilier a "tentative" Hot, until you shoot it on a plain background. Then it'll probably be Hot regardless of where the valves or pedals or stem are positioned.

All that nonsense of judging the crank and the grouppo and the chain and the stem and the valves & pedals as detracting from the bike is a bunch of BS.

(no white garage door, but the pictures are framed so I hope that balances out...)

Nobody can accuse that Land Shark of not having a perfectly level saddle... look at it in relation to the garage door panels. Great bike!
