Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Best 700x23 tire for ~20 each

I was looking for Michelin pro 2/3 race but they're more than I want to spend at the moment (unless there are deals I'm unaware of). I'm going to be putting together a bike I'll use for racing in the spring with those tires, so until then I want something that's cheaper but doesn't have high rolling resistance. Puncture resistance would be nice but it's probably not that big of a deal. I would also prefer a yellow tires. What should I get?

Vittoria Rubino Pro.

The 2007 model year tires are starting to get pretty cheap.

I saw both of those earlier today and they seemed promising, I just don't know which are good/better.

Well, the LIthions aren't as reputable as the Rubinos, but they're both made by good companies and in the same price range.

Personally, I haven't had many good experiences with Vittoria tires.... freakin' impossible to get on the rim!

Not "the" rim, but "your" rim.

I just another pair of Conti GP4000's for $33 each at PBK with free shipping. I have been getting over 4000 miles per pair on these tires and I haven't flatted in about 9000 miles. For $13 more (and no shipping charge), you can have one of the best and most durable tires made. They also come in yellow. Don't be one of the fools that I see in the ditches changing tubes because they tried to save a few dollars.

Good choice. I have around 1200 miles on mine so far. One flat...no big deal..surprisingly grippy. An excellent choice. I will buy another pair from PBK at their next 15% sale.

1+ on the Rubino. I also tried GP4000 25mm that are real nice. If you wanna spend a few more bucks, Gommitalia makes nice tires.

I ordered Rubinos from PBK about ten days ago. Got email today basically saying "sorry, out of stock" Really messes me up as I expected would have by now and mounted for next week-ends race.

Yeah, I'm bummed and wished they had told me NOT IN STOCK when I ordered.

I get at least 4000 miles out of my Rubinos and end up finishing them off on the trainer at the end of the year. I've gone two straight years without a single flat on two different sets.

I like Vredestein Fortezza SEs, and you can get close to $20 on sale at Performance. I've won three races on these tires, and trained on them full time... until I got a bike that didn't agree with blue...

Been using Rubino Pro's since the begining of the year. Couldn't be happier with all of the race and training miles I've put on the two sets I've had.

I'm glad to heard the good reviews. After racing cars I'm pretty paranoid/anal about tires

I've bought during the 15% sale a couple times since this past winter. I'd be surprised if they had another before the upcoming one....but I can't say for sure. I'll be watching for it though!
