Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Perscription cycling glasses

I'm new to cycling ... have not even picked up my bike yet. I am just curious if anyone knows of a good brand of sunglasses that I can get with prescription lenses. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Too broad a question. What's your Rx? If you're highly nearsighted the edges of your lenses may be much too thick for any type of "wrap" style glasses. Even with an "8 base" lens (a steeper curve to make the lenses fit a more wrapped frame) you may get distortion. If you are blind without glasses look into the many brands with prescription inserts. You can then change the exterior lens colors.

Tbh there has been a thread about prescription sunglasses. I suggest the "search function". Not sure of brand but I remember when I got my prescription aviators at Lens Crafters for average day wear I saw some sunglasses that looked like the typical kind worn by cyclists. Ya could try there maybe?

I just got a pair of Rudy Rydons with in-lens prescription. No insert. I absolutely, positively love them. Better optical clarity than any other eyeglass I've ever worn, and a photochromatic racing red lens means that even in the evening they are wearable.

Not cheap, but the lens material-not polycarbonate-is worth it.

I've got 2 pairs of the Oakley XX. I love the pair with the transitions lenses that get darker in bright sun. They're pricey but I like them.

I purchased some Polar Optics "fit over" glasses, as I wear RX glasses and am too cheap to purchase RX sunglasses. They work very well and I am very happy with them. If you search to forum, you can get a coupon to get 2 pairs for one price.

I got the Rudy Zyon Racing Configuration. I think all Rudy glasses have a racing configuration. Comes with second set of lenses for the same cost. The frame is white and you get laser blue and racing red lenses. The one difference is in the Rudy Project text on the front top of the frame. So, I advertise Rudy more, big deal, I got a free second set of lenses. I also got the insert with a low bifocal as I am a bit older now...They work great!
