TX RR Crossings
Been riding down here for a year and a half, some great roads in the area. However over the last 3 months I've had 3 flats, (more than in the last 10 years). All the same, cross a RR Track, dont feel anything unusual, then immediatly rear tire starts getting soft. Always a pinch.
Is there something different about the crossings down here? Is there a spot I should cross? avoid? Need some local knowledge.

1) Inflate your tires more, and/or consider going to a slightly wider tire.
2) unweight the bike as you cross RR tracks (or other obstacles you can't avoid)
3) learn to jump.

Thing is I never had this problem in MI, 20+ years on the road. Maby just a string of bad luck? Wondered if there was something different about the crossings down here? Bad karma from all the riders I've yelled at over the years?

Could be the tracks in TX are worn a bit. On new tracks the tops of the rails are rounded. Worn tracks would get square edges which would be easier to flat on.

Is it a big deal to just walk instead of riding across? It takes a little time but probably faster than if you have a flat. If you were going to take a break anyway then that is a good time.
