Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

At first glance I thought that was Pantani:

I met Jackie on the set of the original "Bad News Bears" back in 1976. A bunch of us local Chatsworth kids were asked to practice with some the kids in the film. He seemed nice enough and wasn't a bad player considering he was a 15 year old playing a 12 year old.

ok, now that's extremely cool. Talk about a huge movie. And you were essentially part of that history. Lucky man.

They shot the movie down the street from my childhood home - Mason Park in Chatsworth, CA. We had a lot of fun watching. I dare say it influenced my choice in a career.

I lived in Bloomington at the time it was filmed. The mailman who gave the character Dave the magazine referencing the Cinzano 100, which Dave later kissed, was in fact my mailman the whole time growing up.

Lots of other "I was there" kind of stuff, but the mailman is my only strong link.

It was kind of cool watching it in a theatre when they show the theatre you are watching it in on the screen.

.....but hey....did I mention that my Bloomington, IN little league baseball team was in Melloncamp's "Small Town" video???

Personally no. I was much too young and my mother never would have allowed it. There have been many, many kids killed in that quarry. One killed this last spring/early summer IIRC.
