A hard lesson on being comfortable.

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The shape of the chamois matters as well. I've found Giordana chamois are not as wide as some of my LGs, and therefore less comfortable to me. I think personal geometry as well as brand is a large factor.

My only pair is a pair of hammer bibs. My ass will hurt past three hours or so, and then I am really suffering for the rest of my ride. I also have a lot of trouble keeping my boys in place while I ride. I'd say if you ride more than 45 miles at a time, spring for a better bib.

I don't have any experience with other brands of bibs, but I think the chamois in mine is larger than it should be yet very weak and soft.
