Is this tire kaput
I was riding this morning on a pretty new Michelin Pro2 Race. I felt a little slide in the back wheel then it got sloppy, looked down and it was flat. This is only my second flat in 1800 miles so I was a bit surprised.
I got down to the dirty work and started changing it and found a rock and pushed through the tire and into the tube. I pulled out the rock and it has left a small hole. The hole appears as a little slice maybe a quarter of an inch long, maybe less. When the tube is pumped up it doesn't protrude through the tire but I'm worried if this is going to cause problems; are there tire patches, or is this fried?

Straight cash money.
I use $5 bills for my tire boots, because I'm pimp.

Since its the back I wouldn't worry about it if it isn't pushing through . PR2's and 3's cut pretty easily. Keep an eye on it and if you can see tube then it's time to chuck it, I don't mess with boots.

if you're so concerned...
if you're concerned more than that you should just take a knife and stab it.

Cash sounds fine to me, I'll give that a whirl. Thanks guys.
Nothing like having to stop at 6:30 A.M. in the middle of your climb to squat down and let your muscles cramp up while you change a tire. I do like the increased performance of the P2R's I have to say I do notice a difference but it's not enough to make me want to put up with this, I might switch back to whatever replaces the Krylion Carbons.

I'm going to cut a dollar bill so I can use it for multiple holes and stuff the rest in my saddle bag.
Do you guys fold the bill or is one layer of a dollar enough?

Park tire boots are cheap and way stronger than currency, in more ways than one.

I have my old pair for this winter, but the fact is they've stopped making them so by the time I burn out these P2R's and my old krylions (jan I assume) They will be all gone, hopefully the replacement will be here.

If it needs a boot (i.e. a dollar bill) why not slap some velox rim tape on the inside? It's actually strong enough to do more than simply getting you home from the middle of a ride. I've used dollar bills, clif bar wrappers and whatnot when necessary, but if I'm going to make a 'permanent' fix, I'll patch the tire on the inside with a piece of Velox tape, prepped and glued just as I would a patch on a tube.

can't be bitter because my krylions took so much abuse and never punctured once, the only time I ever punctured before this was on the stock super cheap bonty tires and a cracked sea shell pushed through.

Okay good, as long as you are not bitter. I was bitter when I got two flats on my bonty tires (same ride) so I ordered some new ones. I wish I had your patience.

I don't mind changing tires, just not in the middle of climbs cuz I cramp up.
I called my bike store to ask about tire boots and the guy said it's an "emergency fix" and he said it will probably only last 2 rides.
