Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Hammer "Referal Code"?

Could anyone please tell me what these are? I'm planning to order a pair of bib shorts and a jersey and was wondering if this was some sort of a discount or something...
Thanks.

The bibs? They are Voler. Great for training rides, commutes, etc. I do not wear them on century rides or longer.

Their nutritional products are top notch IMHO.

I could use a code too (but didn't want to be the one to start a thread or randomly pm people)

Since Psimet2001 mentioned it, if the Hammer bibs aren't good enough for longer rides, what would you guys recommend?

....for low price alternatives that will go the distance I would recommend Performance's Ultra bibs. The material is new(thicker) this year and I have not tried the new versions, but in general the old ones were only at a disadvantage to the Hammolers (Hammer Volers) in that the fabric just gave out much sooner.

The Hammolers are much better made, but have...in my opinion...a worse chamois.

I don't mean to imply you can't ride this short on a century, but if I am going to my closet the morning of a cenutry I will grab a pair of Assos.....or a pair of Ultras. If all of those were dirty I would grab my Hammolers.

I'm generally willing to pay more for quality, but I can't see myself paying much more than ~$100 for shorts/bibs in the foreseeable future, but that's what I thought before I went shopping for shoes (ended up with SIDI Genius 5).

fwiw, I'm a newb. I've been doing ~10 mile rides a couple times during the week and 30 mile rides on the weekends for the last month (when I bought my road bike). The shorts I have now are Novara Metro Gel from REI. I've been happy with them so far, but figure I'll find more weaknesses as my rides get longer.

For the money Hammer bibs are the way to go.
Second best IMHO, ultra bibs when on sale. Although I haven't tried this years version.

Buy the Hammer(volers). They will be an upgrade and are a steal at the price that Hammer is selling them at.

Oh....and BTW guys...they do actually make extremely good nutritional products. I use nothing but them. Try some gel at least. When you place your first order (with some actual Hammer product on it) they send you a sampler of their products that is pretty cool.

I concur. My favorite is the banana gel.
The orange Heed is my favorite flavor.

So you're saying all the money I've spent on my Specialized bibs has been a waste? :-)

I've been looking at Assos as well, but they seem pricey as well.
