Well to get an invite to any pro races he has to. Now to do the local crit he doesn't but I don't think thats what he has in mind.

For the next ten years or so, we are gonna suffer from bouts of "Armstrong is coming back" rumors started by bored journalists. Don't believe such reports unless they come out of Armstrong's mouth. He won't enter a race he will lose, so he won't be entering the Tour de France.

Dude, write a new post. You can't keep posting the same idiotic comment in every thread.

I'd dismiss it as an unconfirmed rumor, if he hadn't submitted himself to the out of competition testing protocol, just in time for the Tour of California.

Out of competition testing is a major pain. You sleep over at your Girlfriend's house, and the Testers have to be notified. No sane person would subjigate themselves to the program unless they have a definite intent to race again.

ABH is semi-retired now, thank you, at home basking in his fame and fortunes. We have other, younger, hungrier pugilists here to pick up the slack.

Nah, I've tussled with ABH before, particularly in the epic BD Wars of the Summer of '06. Good times. We lost many a good man that summer.

If it's one thing the internet has taught me it's that there's really no accounting for taste. :D

More insight from our alan. Read it and weep, bikerboy. :D

“I’m going back to professional cycling. I’m going to try and win an eighth Tour de France.”

alanbikehouston 09-09-08 03:47 PM

Armstrong will embarrass himself next July. He could have been like Rocky Marciano, and retired as "The Champ". Instead, he wants to be like Ali, and retire as "The Chump".

When he is humiliated next July, he will simply be feeding the growing belief around the world that his prior victories were fueled by illegal drugs and that he can NOT win under a strict drug testing program.

Man, you hit that one right on the head! A true oracle in our midst. He is also great at using copy/paste. Why don't you just quit while you are behind.

Second Mouse 09-09-08 03:56 PM

So which is it, alan? "...he won't be entering the Tour de France" or "Armstrong will embarrass himself next July." You seem conflicted.
