An honest question
What is with the neon spandex? I understand the shorts for the penis pad, but the shirts I do not get. I ride my road with t shirts, sometimes even an opened buttoned shirt. Don't say for aerodynamics and speed because I go by all the neon clad warriors with quite some speed, even after 40 miles of riding. But hey, maybe that is because I also ride a fixed.

It is very comfortable, dries quickly and has provisions (pockets) for tools, chow etc.
The cut of a quality jersey will have great drape whilst riding. It does not have to be "neon", many tasteful colors are available.

Depends how far you ride. A cotten t-shirt gets soaked with sweat pretty quick when I ride and is very uncomfortable while a wicking type jersey stays drier. The back pockets are just an added bonus

Taking the very risky assumption that this isn't a troll, the material breathes better and is drier, and the bright colors help motorists to see you so they don't accidentally run you over.

I find skin tight jeans, a thrift store shirt, beard and cycling cap work the best when I'm on my "track" bike, oh and some sweet, sweet playing cards in my spokes make them more aero

The back pockets are everything to me. If I'm out exercising, sweat is fine - but not being able to carry emergency necessities sure sucks. The sweat becomes an issue if I'm going to work, in which case I'll also wear a jersey. The only people worrying about who is wearing what are people like you, and do you think I should put great stock in your opinion? I'm kidding but basically, wear a jersey and stop being so self-conscious - I kind of like the exhibitionist aspect of cycling clothing, heh. I also ride a geared bike in NYC because riding fixed is another way self-conscious people like to show that despite the fact that they are on a bicycle, they are indeed COOL!
before someone gets all nit-picky: no, I do not always wear a jersey, but if I plan to exercise on my bike or it is particularly hot and I am going more than a few miles then I will.

the OP is obviously a troll and either lives in a fred-tastic part of the country or is delusional. The only time I see a lot of "neon" shirts is when people commute and to be seen by cars better. Besides, get out of this forum, we don't need any more of you fixie hipsters here, you have your own forum for a reason.

I once rode by a group of neon spandex clad road nazis waiting at a red light. I was on my track bike with chopped bars and tri spokes, I went straight through the red, lighting up a Parliament as I went.
One of them shouted something to me but I couldn't hear him over the sound of my own awesomeness.

Bike ≠ Car ≠ Ped.
+1
(kinda.. lol)
I get the bright colors because that's what the jerseys with that type of cut (snug sleeves, drop tail, rear pockets) usually look like. I have a couple beer ones because beer's fun.
"Penis pad"... eh.. the best thing about it isn't that it's a pad, but that it has no seam for me to sit on.
And, yeah, another vote for this bring a troll thread.

If you call me a troll because i ask a question about neon clothing thats ridiculous. i apologize for not knowing the attraction to it. But if you wear it so cars can see you, i think it would be the moth-light bulb effect.
And calling me a "hipster" for riding fixed is hypocritical, because most road bikers are also hipsters with their outfits of spandex. just personal experience.

Or... (thanks BT)
