You must come up and do Las Flores.

p.s. And when you get here I'll convince you to do Tuna Canyon, then sit back and watch the carnage.

the only carnage will be your heart detonating as I drop you and the sisters of the order of the the the Dura Achee...or something like that

If you want to sit back and watch carnage, all you have to do is watch the Mets.

They do suck.

Found this in another forum talking about a steep hill called Las Flores something about 20% grade.

George, Las Flores would be no big deal for you. I've climbed it and it hurt me, but it was in the middle of a ride, not a destination in itself. I don't think it's as hard as Balcom.

Unfortunately the only times I've climbed Balcolm has been as part of a double century.

It's funny going out to see the Tour of California and people attempting Balcolm and saying "whew that was tough!" Then I say "trying doing it 140 miles into a double and 12k on your legs." Then there's still Decker and Piuma and Schreun (sp?). 16,500 feet in that double and nothing goes higher than what 3,000 feet?

That was also after Potrero from the bottom, yes? I haven't done the double, but a double riding friend said that was a hard one. I have done the Mulholland single a few times, that's enough for me.

According to google maps it averages out to 18%.

And according to Vireo Laws of Gravity-- anything over 15% is too steep already! Yeah I tried to tell gsteinb that there was steep stuff over here and ljrichar that was longer than a mile but I was made a chump.

http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/05030/448976.stm This is why rails to trails is popular here. Everything else is up or down
