Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Except that there is no evidence that happened. You really should quit while you're behind. You're heading toward an epic fail of lazyrider proportions.

Taiwan doesn't have quality bikes?

Huh?

If you said that you didn't want a bike made in mainland China, because of political something-or-other, I'd understand... but Taiwan?

Quality?

That's what you're going with?

My handstands at 25mph still need work.

Have you had the chance to ride some of the same routes you rode on older bikes? If so, how do your speeds compare?

WOW. Dr Pete in your time away from BF do you kick these peoples puppies. I don't understand this bile directed at Dr Pete. If I spent all that time in school earning my medical degree I would be proud to tell people about it.

Camilo get over it.

Come on you guys...lets lighten up a bit. Doc bringing up the guy in the lobby was just an excuse to show off his cool bike. tho Doc wouldn't admit that. I will admit...it is very cool looking bike and kind of makes me want to get one but not sure if I would like that TT position for the kind of riding I do. Anybody who says Doc's bike ain't bad@$$'ed and special doesn't appreciate bikes and we all do.

You have nice stuff, it makes you elitist. That's almost as bad as not waving.

You need an old ugly trike and a little dog!! Then you must be caring, thoughtfull, and responsible, because you have a pet. That is untill you ride your road bike.....or if you ride your track bike, then you are a hipster. Or your beater 10 speed, then you have a DUI or are homeless. If you ride your MTB you need to have dreadlocks and smoke weed. If you buy a quality headlight that runs as long as you really need, you are a light geek.

Wow.........I'm getting dizzy......... I either wore my bike clothes on a beater, or my jeans on a Litespeed. That is not possible.. ...is it ??

What's wrong with being elitist?

You guys have no business in Road Cycling if you oppose elitism.

Funny thing is that it's a nickname my cycling teammates use too, because we have another rider named Pete and it's used to differentiate me in conversation.

But whatever--I'm used to it. If you're really that self-righteous that you can't laugh at someone looking at a decal-ridden bike and asking who makes it, then I have nothing to help you.

And yeah, it's what I do for a living, and there are plenty of other M.D.'s with Dr (or some version thereof) in their names on BF. Really, the fact that you waste energy worrying about someone else's username says far more about you than about me...

So I own a Cervelo TT bike and a Motobecane MTB. Am I in danger of unraveling the fabric of the universe starting in my garage?

You are too large for this sport Dr. Pete. You need to get 4" shorter and lose 80 lbs.

All pale by comparison to having the chutzpah to own a Cervelo.

It is not, however, the sole qualification. Case in point: I have no business here yet I have been accused of "elitism" enough that I now voluntarily carry the label.
