Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Shedding Fredishness

I want to know the proper technique for ridding myself of Fredishness. I need guidance from the enlightened ones on the forum in order to finally feel that I am not a Fred in any way, shape or form. What elements must I let go of and what must I foster in myself, my look, my attitude, and my bike in order to be counted as part of the pantheon of the elite? How is it possible that the majority of this forum (bikeforums.net) is actually inhabited by so many Fred without it collapsing into a heap of Huffy scrap metal?

BTW, what are non-Freds called?

It's like being cool. If you have to think about it, you aren't. If you do what all the cool people do, you're still not cool, you're just a non-cool person doing what the cool people do. Banerjek has the right answer.

OP, Just submit a picture of you riding your bike and we will provide a little "feedback" for you to follow. Then, submit a 2nd image incorporating the "feedback" on shedding Fred for some additional comments. It's that easy!

Just to ask the question is to locate yourself so clearly in the center of the vast Fred universe that no amount of travel, even at the incomparable speeds of the best of the Road Nazis, could ever allow you to reach the edges of that domain, let alone move beyond it.

Sorry.

Fenders are more than OK for foul weather group rides.

And getting rid of your Freddishness is hard because it goes all the way to the core.

We should all learn to come to terms with our Fredliness, embrace it, relish in the pure joy of being a Fred. Otherwise you're living in denial.

It's been over twenty minutes and I'm still thoughtless. I'll have to go on the trainer and sort thru the image. How long are your inseams? 24"? Geez!
