Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ok, so I've decided to htfu...

Ok, so I've been a weenie....I've spent most of my cruising time on my 42T chainring. Well, for today's paltry 15mi before dinner ride I resolved NOT to shift off the 52T ring...and I didn't. It was a lot harder for me in places than I was used to but I pushed through it...and found that my warmup came quicker than normal. The last two miles into the 20mph headwind was tough, and I stayed in the 52-24 for most of that two miles, but I did it.

HTFU...hopefully I'm on my way...

I've tried that before. It didn't make me faster, but it did make my knees hurt more!

You're probably right, my bad...but I was proud of myself for not giving in to temptation when the quads started to burn on the one short but very steep hill on this route. And, 99% of my rides are solo so it's doubly tempting...no one to call me out, except myself.

No....If you do decide to brag about it on BF, you have to go all the way and yell at all the weinies to HTFU as well.

I'll wait until I hit, maybe 5 out of 10 on the HTFU-o-meter before I yell at other weenies. Of course, riding solo all the time, it might be hard to know when that is?

Yeah, the neat thing about that bigger chainring is you can get to Wendy's quicker to get that triple cheeseburger.

Haha, Wendy's is out for me, at least the triple cheese... In another life sure, but I would have died cycling a mile, much less to our closest Wendy's.
