I was just scrolling though craigslist and came across a beautiful looking colnago lux dream. There are some slight scratches, but it comes with a fork and headset. Anyway, he's asking $300 for it. I was thinking if I bought it, I would do the thing some justice and throw campy on it. To keep costs down (new bike anyways coming by the end of the year), it would probably be veloce (I don't care if its used or not). I would have to get wheels, saddle, and bars. Is it worth it?
Here is a picture of the frame (not the exact one, but same color scheme).

That thing could be hung in an art museum, seriously.

Here's the bottom line! This bike is like none other! Why? Because it's a Colnago. It doesn't really matter which Colnago you get...a Colnago's a Colnago. I had been racing Treks and Cannondales for years until I took my friends Colnago Dream out for a ride! There is nothing like it. Yes, the paint job chips a bit, but you can't complain when the paint job beats any other around. The main thing is that EVERY ounce of power you put into the bike bursts out into optimized speed! Sprinting and climbs are a sinch with the Dream Plus. Some may find the frame a little stiff but that's the cost of a 2.67lb frame that flys. I drove all the way from Toronto to Montreal just to test and buy my bike. It was worth the drive, and every penny I paid!

You either have it or you don't. There's no accounting for some people's (lack of) taste. "Italian road bikes have a mystique. This cannot be argued. This mystique creates appeal and desire. These bikes are works of mechanical art, built by artisan frame builders who inject a passion and interest into their frames unlike other builders. Italian bikes are every bit conversation pieces as they are world-class sporting gear. A thoughtfully built, sized, and equipped Italian road bike is truly an extension of one’s personality."

Bikes: Catrike 559 I own some others but they don't get ridden very much.
The very fact that you are scrolling through craigslist, and feel the need to ask are evidence that you've got BAD (bicycle acquisition disease). There's no real cure but there is a 12 step program for it.
