Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Most expensive retail road bike?

I'm curious if anyone knows which retail road bike is the most expensive. I'm not talking about a custom build, but an "off the shelf" build with a suggested retail price.

I think it's the BMC Time Machine TT01, at $12500 for the frameset. Landis's TDF TT bike built on that frame was $25K.

The BMC TT01 isn't offered stock with componentry, therefore can it be defined as an "off the shelf build"?

I'm guessing then, if that's the requirement, that the prize would go to the Trek Madone 6.9 Pro/Red...

The Scott Addict and the Cervelo R3, offered from Cadence Cycling in Manhattan at highest trim, is $10,000. (it used to...)

There are some Colnago bikes that at stock surpass this (but I can't think of any at the moment). Isn't the Colnago Ferrari bike somewhere around $10,000+?

The Trek Madone 6.9 at top trim pushes $9,000 as well as the Cannondale Super SIX top-trim (I think)?

The Felt DA from Cadence pushes $10,000.

Wasn't there a bike that retailed at $20,000? BananaTugger?
