Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Xmas is soon approaching so lets make our lists.

I just bought a 2008 Tarmac Elite and I am getting into competitive cycling next year. What are some things that I should get in perperation for the upcoming year? I have a standard computer and a CyclOps trainer and that is bout it. I also plan on builing a LD bike from the frame up as well. What should I get this year for gifts? Any ideas? What do you guys want?

RS2 with Rival Groupset.

Of course it wont happen, every year we break ourselves and spend about 5k on relatives and we get $200 in return. When I say 'we' I mean my wife.

1. Good grades on my courses this semester.
2. A place to live in January.
3. A nice practicum close to where I currently live in February.
4. A good job in April.
5. A safe, simple, inexpensive, and hassle-free move in August.

I've scrapped ice off the window in the morning more than once lately. They're here.

So....holiday list...totally make-believe so why not...

Christmas? jeez it isn't even Haloween, Diwali, Thanksgiving yet.

When do you put your tree up? June?

I also have my personal November 1st "Gave up smoking anniversary Schwag fest" sponsored by Marlboro. $4k on anything I want.

I dont wait until Xmas to buy something (or be bought something). When I need it, I buy it. Yesterday I bought Gore windstopper jacket. A few days ago I bought a Topeak saddle bag. And last week I bought Mavic Aksium wheel set and installed my NOS Spec Mondo Pro tires (which will be replaced soon... that reminds me.... time for a tire-recomendation thread )

I hope I pick your name in the BF gift swap pool.

I'd like a new wireless computer, something with nice large readable numbers for those of us who are visually challenged.

And how about the 2008 Giro d'Italia DVD set for my trainer workouts.

yummy! not to start a thread war or anything, but i'd want force or red. no offense against shimano. sram hoods are more comfy to me.

my cycling wish list is a short one. gc's so i can buy clothing as i need it. also, i really, really want to build up a fixie/ss. i'd like a cheap, but unique frame.

An 8 day week with 6 days making up the work week. That way I can still get in my intervals, recoveries, group rides with my buddies, then race or do long rides on the weekends. BTW, I'll be retired next spring so it doesn't matter to me if you guys don't appreciate the 6 day work week.
