Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Don't listen to these schmucks. Save your money and simply upgrade your AL bike. Build some arm and ab muscles to make up for the road. Your butt will improve as well. It's not worth it. Ride harder and focus on your stroke. The ride quality will disappear from your mind.

Got a carbon in addition to a fairly high-end aluminum/carbon mix. The carbon is lighter, which helps climbing. Other than that, not much difference except on fairly rough pavement. Of course, I have different wheels & tires on the two, which may make more difference than the frame.

I don't think you will find a lot of people who have switched from Ti to carbon.
