Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'll carry on conversations on rides up to 25-30mph, depending on effort. Over that and I'm working too hard to carry on a conversation. I can't say that wind has ever been the impediment to conversation.

Do what you want, but I disagree on all fronts.
One ear - at least you can hear everything else, for now.
Two ears - No, failure.
Cell Phone - Ultimate fail - proceed to nearest fire, die in it.
I'll use my cell phone, through the earbud and attached microphone.

Ok, I suppose that meets the prescribed methods in the Road Nazi "Handbuch Fur Rennrad".
You may proceed through the checkpoint.
