What's your postride bike routine?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What's your postride bike routine?

Ok folks. What do you do to care for your bike after you ride it on a good long training ride?

- Roughly how much is your bike (in case old beater bikes get less maintenance than race bikes)
- If you clean it, what do you use, and what parts in particular? (chain?)
- How often do you do your routine? Every time? Or once a month or more?
- Any things you find particularly important in the process?

After a dry ride, I just stick it in it's usual place. If it's wet, I dry it off, lube the chain, and then stick it in it's usual place. I lube the drivetrain once a week and do a thorough cleaning once a month. I use Finish Line Citrus degreaser when I do the complete cleaning session. I use White Lightning wax lube for everything.

Stretch, chocolate milk, shower, followed by a meal.
EDIT: Every time.

if it's wet, I dry it off. Other than that it just goes in its corner.

More important for me after a ride is sitting down with a big smoothie and a good stretch, every time.

If it's grotty, I clean it after I've showered and eaten, but that may be left for later if I'm really tired. Otherwise I just get off it, prop it up, take out the bottles, go inside, take off my clothes and put them in the machine, get in the shower, wash, dry off, stretch a bit, make tea, make food, eat food, drink tea, then eat more food. That is my postride routine.

I try to stretch, but usually i sit in my recliner in my bibs turn on the tube and let my mind melt, eventually I get in the shower.

Bike goes on the rack, if it rained, wipe it down right quick, and wipe down the chain really well. I almost never remember to lube it, but I should do that more often. I'll clean the bikes when it hurts my eyes to see how nasty and dirty they've gotten

Post ride, if dry: park it.

Pre ride: lube chain, diddle around with cable tension, pump up tires, reset computer.

dry ride: park it
wet ride: park it

I'll worry about lubing the chain after it's dry.

I use a spray bottle of water and mist and wipe to get rid of corrosive salts from sweating. Then park and shower and meal with a nice glass of red wine (maybe has antioxidents).

When it rains I dry it, wipe the chain down and lube it otherwise I leave it alone until I clean it which is about once a month or as needed.

discard damn bicycle in garage, walk away disgusted with myself wondering why I do it. Come home later in the evening and eye it forgivingly, wake the next morning and repeat.

Rubdown and have my shoes shined. Then off to either a movie or an amusement park.

Wipe bike, lube chain, shower. Pretty much every time. I am a subscriber to the Leonard Zinn, wipe and lube the chain every time and never have to scrub it school of thought.

Throw it back into the jeep and go home and have a beer. Or two.

Off nights are dedicated to maintance. Unless its an emergency repair.
