Setup for my new bike: questions
I thought I would ask for comments on my planned new bike set up before I purchase and put together all the parts rather than after -- so that I can modify it if need be.
So here it goes:
Frame: Cannondale CAAD9 (Color: Mate Black)
HAndlebars: FSA wing pro
Stem: Ritchey Adjustable
Front/Rear Derailleurs: 105 9-speed
Crankset: 105
Break/shifters: Ultegra
Brakes: Cane's creek
Brake pad: kool stop
What else?
Wheels: Ultegra/mavic if I can afford it, if not Bontrager basic crap that came with my previous bike.
Any glaring "faute de gout" or other no-no, plse enlighten me.

I knew this was a good idea! ![Wink](https://www.bikeforums.net/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Good question. A saddle, i guess, but which kind. I am looking for something solid, comfortable, but reasonably priced. (I weigh 175).
Any ideas?
I also forgot to mention I am going to buy Armadillo elites (black)

I worked at a bike shop for a while and those ritchey adjustable stems are notoriously hard to keep still. It won't rotate on you, but it will have a little play, which would drive me insane.
Find out what position you need, and get a normal stem. Or use the adjustable stem until you find what angle you like, then buy that angle in a fixed stem.

A chain might be helpful. Seatpost too. Bottle cages? Bar tape? BB? Headset? Fork? Those just pop out right away. And I agree with the above poster regarding the stem.

Yeah - I tried an adjustable stem. Once. Good idea good concept poor execution poor engineering. The move and can't be trusted. Too much stress at point they adjust. Trust me on this one.

Armadillos on a racing bike just strikes me wrong. I'd rethink that (Vredestein Fortezza or Conti GP4000, rather...).
+100 on skipping the adjustable stem.
Saddles are way too personal. I use Fizik Aliante's myself but I have no reason to think they'd work for you....

Adjustable stem, because I like them high. My back is not very flexible so my position is pretty upright, but I can't to short a top tube lest my knees hit the handlebars when I'm out of the saddle....
Hope this makes sense.

They have these armadillo elites -- which I think are thinner then regular Armadillos.
Plus I have been using the standard Armadillos and they are great: 1 flat in 10K -- and that's only because of an inferior Performance innner tube.

why a dura ace chain on a 105 drivetrain? seems like alot of $ for not much return in a silly area. Plus they have those stupid pins you have to replace right? SRAM makes nice chains with tool-less removal link at a much lower cost.
